Working the land
The farmhouse Cerqueto is part of our agricultural company Cerqueto SRL. We grow and produce high volumes of organic legumes, vegetables and cereals. Feel free to have a look at our website of the farm itself: www.cerquetosrl.it.
Chickpease, lentils, beans and spelled are just some of the specialties that are grown and marketed.
The conservation and enhancement of traditional Italian products is the main craftsmanship of the Cerqueto farm. Over time, the range of products has been extended to pasta, oil, paté, olive oil, jams, honey, vegetable-based preparations, wines and liqueurs.
Our history
Agriturismo Cerqueto is located in Acquapendente, on the border between Lazio, Umbria and Tuscany. The farmhouse is located in the centre of my organic farm and was originally built in the second half of the 19th century, inhabited by two families in the upper part and used as stables for animals in the ground floor part. It was then abandoned for many years and in 1972 the property was bought by my father, Luciano Brizi, who grew cereals and clover.
Then in 1996, when I was thirty years old, I took over the whole farm with my wife to start growing typical and organic legumes and to transform the old farm into a place of hospitality. We preserved the historical form of the farmhouse and used the original materials, wood and tuff, in the renovation, creating six warm and welcoming flats in perfect harmony with the peace and silence of the surrounding nature.
The renovation of the flats was completed in 1999 and in 2000 we built another area with a swimming pool and solarium. Over the years we have tried to improve ourselves and offer more services: we have built a large hall for parties and receptions and we have bought machinery to select and package our pulses and cereals.
I have always taken care of the reception, maintenance and farm work with passion and dedication, together with my daughter Alessia, who has been running the farm with me for about fifteen years.
